For example, you can ask /”How do I turn on dark mode?/” and Copilot will walk you through the steps to enable night mode. Or you can ask Copilot to compare two products and specifications. It aims to provide helpful information instantly within Windows.

Later in 2022, Microsoft surprised some by announcing it was bringing Copilot to Windows 10 as well. Over 69% of Windows installations still run Windows 10, versus just 26% on Windows 11. By targeting both platforms, Microsoft could potentially bring Copilot’s AI assistant to over 1 billion Windows users.

The AI Hype vs Reality
During my testing of Copilot, I’ve found that its capabilities don’t always live up to the hype. Despite the polished demos, Copilot often makes errors, doesn’t fully understand my questions, and can crash unexpectedly.
