Avast antivirus is an internet security application with both free and paid versions available.
Core Shields are the main protection components in Avast antivirus. There are four different core shields that can be adjusted. To disable the antivirus completely, you would be required to disable all the core shields.
For that, open up the menu on the top right corner and click on Settings.
From here, move to the Protection tab and click on the Core Shields option.
Over here, click on the toggle switch next to the heading.
Now you can select the duration for which you want to disable the antivirus for. If you want to disable the antivirus completely, click on the “stop indefinitely” option.
With that done, a message will appear confirming whether you want to disable all the core shields. Click on Ok, and the antivirus will be completely disabled.
Additionally, you can disable each core shield individually. Let’s enable all the core shields again and scroll down to configure shield settings.
Over here, you can see all the four core shields.
The File Shield scans any file added to or opened on your PC.
The Behavior Shield warns you if any application behaves suspiciously.
The Web Shield blocks web attacks & unsafe downloads from websites.
Lastly, the Mail Shield blocks dangerous email attachments.
You can move to each individual tab and disable the particular core shield you want to stop. For example, you can disable the File and Behavior shield if you are trying to install an application that Avast is blocking.
When you disable any particular shield, Avast will ask you for the time duration you want the shield to be deactivated for. You can select “stop indefinitely” if you wish to disable it completely.
